How to composite renders in Blender 2.8+

In this tutorial, I'm targetting intermediate users who want to expand their knowledge of Blenders compositor. I'd recommend checking out some more basic tutorials on the subject if you've never touched the compositor before.

I'll be taking a recent scene I made (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/KawXo4) and going through the following compositing steps.

  • Working with Renderlayers

  • Using Crptomatte to make adjustments to individual objects as well as cheating a bit to add color variation to grass.

  • Adding in fake mist and fog effects

  • Finishing up with general compositing steps like color balancing, glares etc
